Another fine and marvelously mysterious Halloween image from you---this bunch of Halloween images have been terrific, Ute. Here, you have a woman out of a 19th Gothic novel, in long dark gown, and deep red lipstick (I assume). She's wearing a jabot, maybe? Some kind of old-fashioned neck scarf? (Nice addition.) And a moon big enough to take over the whole Ridge. And a wonderfully decayed old home, with ghosts lounging about. I like that you don't explain who they are (at least I don't know who they are); and yet they seem very specific: The man on the ground looks like he's been murdered, and maybe the standing man does too. The standing man's in a position of surrender, which adds more mystery to the piece. (Someone bumping into this place might think: "What in the world's going on here!") A nice "friendly" dog or wolf in the right-front (great expression and arched back!) And lots of mist washing through the scene---with a shutter clear off the house and bumping into the moon. Wonderfully moody and dark; with that woman setting the tone for the whole piece...Either she lives here and is thinking "maybe I better leave," or else she wandered into this place by mistake, and is thinking, "I should definitely leave". Wonderfully done, Ute. Even your signature feels a bit like a creepy creature...
