Sometimes you just have to pull over and take a bunch of pictures. This building was absolutely compelling!

Fake brick paper on the outside? That's peeling off? Or am I mis-seeing what I'm seeing? Cool and very odd, what a wonderful shot!
How interesting! The peeling piece at the top looks like tar paper for roofing. Didn't know they made such a thing for wall covering. Great find and shot, Tara.

A wonderful study in light and textures, Tara!
Great title, composition and crop! Did a little research on this ancient old siding. Vintage should be 1930s. Composition is asphalt on asbestos dipped matting of cloth or paper. Was fire resistant, kept the breezes out of old wooden buildings, easy to install and cheap. This has probably been on there at least 75 years...way past its life expectancy:)

This is a really neat image. When I read the title I thought you were talking about me. You find such interesting things to see I'm convinced the Photo Gods are at work. "Hurry up with that wall, Tara will be here any minute!" Moscow, Idaho was supposedly named after a town in Pennsylvania. No one seems to know how that town came by the name Moscow.

Ha! so it wasnt wrong what I saw. Fake wall :-D Well we still have some brick walls that are fake here in DK. Also wooden board looking like planks, so why not. :-) Thanks for the info Bill and thanks for sharing this interesting wall Tara :-)

Like I said to Bill, I SHOULD be doing a few Buddha shots (given my background), but instead I'm doing decay. But as I also said to Bill, decay is right up ol' B's background. The reminder that all things are impermanent...
Beautiful closeup of this "fake" wall (Helle had a great response to discovering that it was fake: You need to see this clicked all the way to see how fake it really is!) But you got so much variance in texture and in the rolling blacks and greens: It's quite alive. The shadows above it---esp in the rolled piece of wall, the upper left---are wonderful contrast. As is the deep black inside the window. And the light against the old wood on top. (With, I assume, nails stuck into it---making another piece of counterpoint.) All in all, a very active, dancing image, which just bolsters my contention that decay is nothing but vivid life seen from another perspective. It's decayed, as a "house," but wholly alive as texture, surface, light, shadow, etc. The diagonal shadow from the left-top to the center is a wonderful touch too. Wonderfully done painting on all levels. Love this shot.
Yes, I can see while this building as it were was called you, Tara. It radiates much, colors, textures, and light so very sublime. You can look at it for a long time, it just intrigued.
