Description
China and glass recovered in 1988 from the steamboat Arabia that sank in The Missouri River in 1854. Looks pretty good for being under water and mud for 134 years...wouldn't you agree?
A lot of this china is Wedgewood and Davenport "Staffordshire" ironstone imported from England. It was headed for the frontier but never made it thanks to a snag in the river that ripped a huge hole in the boat's hull. There was 200 tons of goodies like this neatly packed in wooden crates waiting to be discovered.

Dare I say this is a 'cracking' shot Bill !!
It looks beautiful and brand new! Lovely shot!
Very nice display Great capture
I'd love to go back there. I had the T3i when we were there last time, and I think I can get some better shots. THIS shot is great! Terrific use of the available light.
A terrific image. The mud may have helped to preserve them. I saw similar items in the Mormon museum at Cove Fort. I assume these are not for sale.
Right you are Mark...not for sale. Preserved in the Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City.
Great shot !
Looks brand new.... Aloha
How interesting! Someone had quite the job setting all this up! Fascinating subject and a perfect shot, Bill.
yes, perfect for a wonderful dinner ;-) looks great and very interesting story behind! the glass carafes are beautiful
Looks fine enough for me to use on the dining table. Amazing capture Bill. God bless.
How grate it is now for us to see. This is simply an awesome shot of all this beautiful porcelain. Thanks for sharing Bill :)
Wow, I thought this was a presentation in a shop & was wondering who stacked it all. Amazing how it has all survived the sinking & bringing up, super pic. xx
Wonderful to see such a stash! Ceramics and human hair outlast most other stuff. Super pic!
neat photo....
Magnificent capture of the hardy stoneware in this one, Bill. That is a long time in the muck and mire without deteriorating. Almost like finding fossils.
