Description
Half Dome is a granite dome at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park, California. It is possibly Yosemite's most familiar rock formation. The granite crest rises more than 4,737 feet (1.44384 km) above the valley floor, info from Wikipedia.
I am guessing that I took this photo in the 1990s and I was using my new Pentax camera. The photo was taken from Glacier Point area as park rangers were trying to get us to leave immediately as a huge thunder storm was coming in fast. A break in the clouds lit up half dome for only a moment. A scanned photo. It will zoom but grainy.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.

Very cool capture looks almost alien
very impressive capture .I have tried twice to cross the pass in Yosemite with both times it was closed. I would like to get a closer view of the Half Dome

Wonderful shot
It is a wonderful shot of this famous rock but the POV is very unusual and interesting !!!!!
Yosemite is one of my very most favorite places and Half Dome is one of the reasons why. I've been to Glacier Point and see it from this perspective. Great shot--and sounds like we had the same camera back in the day. My dad gave me a Pentax K1000 that got me started.
Impressive and imposing! I had Pentax Spotmatics. Still have them, must get rid.
Great shot,beautiful lighting.
Great shot of Half Dome!!! I really like the atmosphere of the approaching storm!!!
I remember climbing it is 2000...................................................I climbed 3 feet at the base of it to get a better look!
Love this Dana, a great opportunity that you did not miss.
Not the view that you normally see ,fantastic.

Fantastic pic
Awesome shot, Dana. The gathering storm as a background with the rock in sunlight is stunning.
Lucky you that you could make this impressing photo, Dana, with the great point just in the sun. Unbelievable what a fantastic location and views. I only have seen the Alps in real live, and this is something so different, WOW!
What an amazing capture, so beautiful & peaceful. xxx
Was there 1967. Had no camera. Sigh. Lucky you, with that small window of opportunity. One sees clearly the rock slide from the hollow of the mountain. I wouldn't like to be near that if it starts moving again. Great shot! Keep up the good work! :-)
What a fantastic shot you got of this stellar landmark!! Thanks for sharing
What an incredible view!
This just takes your breath away! Wow! Such a spectacular view, and what an awesome photo, Dana! I've wanted to see Yosemite for years..... definitely on my bucket list.

Awesome shot, Dana! What an impressive view with the sun highlighting the dome, while all is dark and stormy nearby. Very cool shot!
Wow, what an AMAZING shot!! This has got to be one of the most beautiful spots in the US. I love how the sun is shining right on Half Dome.
What a stunning image! First La Jolla and now Yosemite. I was there in June 1995. Are you following me or am I following you? I read not long ago that a huge slab had fallen off.
wonderful landscape
