Description
This was a bargain as it came as a gift set for the price of the perfume alone.
It gets 4 stars from the gurus who say it "smells exactly like those purely decorative tarts the French are so fond of, with fruit that looks like enamel, criss-crosses of buttery pastry like stained-glass lead and oceans of transparent syrup poured across the whole thing" (Turin and Sanchez, Perfumes the A-Z Guide)
The blurb from Fragrantica is less original:
"Inspired by the elegance and eternity of a little black dress, the perfume exudes Parisian chic and gracefulness. It opens with playful and sparkling aromas of black cherry, bergamot, red berries and almond. Bulgarian and Turkish roses rule the heart, further developing with notes of licorice and smoked black tea. Aniseed, tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli form the base."
As I have yet to smell a Guerlain perfume that I dislike i expect I shall love it!
With the rather good box

That's one classy bottle.
Wow that's one amazing bottle and packaging ! Wonderful photos, and interesting information. Sounds like yummy pastry ! Sure hope you enjoy this one too !
Great shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another classic shot worthy of the ad pages for this perfume. It sounds like it smells wonderful too.
Wonderful capture Andrea. God bless.
I once had a bottle of man pong by Guerlain, gave it to my brother as my feeling was it was too effeminate for my taste, I am more the spicy person, with Fahrenheit being a particular favourite.
I like that bottle, never seen the perfume.
Great capture
Well done still-life !!
The Guerlain bottles are beautifully designed...I always keep perfume bottles. Mine is empty now but I loved the perfume..
the descriptions are interesting to say the least Great presentation
Quite a lovely bottle made more so by your usual excellent treatment. And once again the list of ingredients makes me think it is something to drink rather than wear.
A lovely 'still life'.
What a cool bottle!
A stunning bottle and photo and a very stylish box!
Fabulous work, love it!
I'm skipping at long last, because I'm getting over 75 minutes and I have to leave. But I had to get at least one bottle shot. You've captured the bottle with deep dark shadows on the bottom (a deep red black) morphing to reds and then golds and then yellows at top. A very sensual treatment. Your background, once more, has eradicated the join between vertical and horizontal, making it more about light than structure. And the title---in whites---stands out brilliantly here. And you used highly strong whites in the cap too. A simple shot, but masterful once again; and in zoom we can see all the nuances of your way with color, light, texture, etc. Another first rate bottle shot, Andrea. And I'm glad you like Guerlain's scents: It must be exciting to try a new one, whenever they come out. And btw, that box has art on it that's very French, and a combo of cartoon line with fashion line with a bit of Matisse and even the cartoonist Hirschfeld. A big hand-drawn style for a bottle of perfume! Beautiful work, Andrea. I love your bottle work. (One of the topics Tara and I discuss on the phone, btw---she loves this series too.) (If you don't know Hirschfeld, btw, here are two classic drawings: One, the comedian David Steinberg; the other, George and Ira Gershwin. Long expressive lines, long sweeps, and wonderful proportions... https://barbaragusbi.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/david-steinberg-hirschfeld.jpg http://waterfrontplayhouse.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Hirschfeld-featured.jpg)
(the hirschfelds are much better large....but the web doesn't offer any)
