The castle de Castelnau-de-Lévis was built in 1235.
There are only a few ruins including a watchtower overlooking the Tarn Valley and the town of Albi. The tower, 40 meters high, consists of a semicircular tower which is backed by a square tower. It has three arched floors. Each of them shows traces of a missing floor which doubled the number of stages.
The castle owes its sorry state to his career role during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Some years ago, it was possible to visit this tower "at your own risk" said a panel.... I never made this visit, the stair is very strait and oval... and at the top, it's preferable to have not vertigo... and I have it ! lol!

I wouldn't want to be the guy who has to keep supplying the arrows to all the floors... ;)

Magnifique photo cher Jean!
Fabulous capture and very interesting background information. Great sense of the dimensions from the image.
outstanding and special tower! cool capture of it and the white walls are very impressive! stunning architecture! ;o)
40 meters, that's pretty high. One must have a great outlook from above. Excellent shot, fantastic details and POV.
What a fantastic view of this old beautiful watchtower,Jean, amazing capture and old architecture***********
wonderful shot
interesting building
Absolutely splendid structure!
Must be an excellent view from the top...if you are brave enough ! LOL A well composed capture. ~Cheers~
A excellent POV and fantastic stone work on the walls and tower!
That would be a great place to fly a kite from, or to throw a paper-airplane from.
Great capture
Wow fabulous, I just love the old ruins, so rich in history. I expect to see Rapunzel's hair flowing down from this :-) Lovely capture!!
