Description
I'd walk a mile for a camel (theme from an old cigarette ad).
Captured back in 8/07, just a small part of a long parade commemorating the 50th birthday anniversary of our semi fair city. These camels are of the dromedary variety. And a follow up to the camel shot posted just the other day. What a serious trio escorting these proud ungulates. Even the camels look glum. Participants are supposed to be having fun at a parade.
Bye bye.

Excellent Capture!!
Very interesting series !!
a camel can run with peaks at 60 km / h ... but when you race to guide them in a safe place, as I saw myself forced to do it for them to avoid some problems ... with too slow, they are guided without violence! During the war in Algeria, the camels were sent by the enemy to blow flares ...!!!
(Sorry for the extra ebots, I'm having trouble with my server right now.) Thank you again for the bow, Harry, I'm honored to be mentioned here again! And yes, these two shots are serious---the last camel upload had that woman beaming at the camera; now she's lost in her job, as are the two guys...But then, if you were walking w/ two live camels in LA, I'd imagine you'd feel a tad out of place too. (I wonder what I'd feel walking a camel in my neighborhood: I think the stares and dropped jaws would make me either serious, or like De Niro saying "you lookin' at me???") Solid processional shots, one partly coming, the other going---subtle difference, but a nice pair. And I like the relaxed feel of those three people in blue jeans, walking two camels in LA. You cropped them well too, esp the bottom one, with the lines of the building at top, and the feet all flush with the bottom. Sweet shots. When everyone said, "you have camels in the snow???" I can now say, "they camels in the street, in LA!" (Maybe they're trying out for an part in a film...) Fascinating pics, and thanks for mentioning me with them. And btw, I remember Camel cigarettes: They had no filters, right? (I never smoked cigarettes, though I smoked some killer cigars years back, and a pipe with tobacco that was registered with the Pentagon as highly toxic) It had this elaborate painting of "Arabia" on it, very exotic. I always thought that spies and diplomats smoked Camels, not normal people. Thanks again, Harry. I'll be back for more later...
Mark really did seem to enjoy these, Harry.
Marvelous capture my friend !!!
They look quite large, don't they? I think camels are very cool animals, although the spitting thing is a bit off-putting. These guys look like they've split their trousers at the knees, I wonder if it hurts them? I wonder if the handlers are the owners; some people keep camels and alpacas and llamas the same way they keep horses. I met a camel at a zoo who was given to the zoo after the owner died; the camel's name was Elvis and he had a HUGE head of wild hair, and was quite a personality. I believe his owner lived in Hollywood. All that being said, these are wonderful shots, and I think it's very nice that they decorated the humps with leis!
No she's not lol But these are lovely shots, though, must be said Camels aren't my fave creatures, they do spit. Rob
