December 26th 2004, South-East Asia What a fateful day. Even ten years later the catastrophy of the tsunami that washed over paradise and wich cost so many lives still remains unbelievable. Nobody was safe that day, no matter if they were black, or white, of yellow, or brown, or whatever colour their skin was, no matter if they were Christians, or Jews, or Muslims, or Hindus, or Buddhists, or whatever religion they believed in. In death they were all equal. I still remember These disturbing pictures of water that floods the coastlines, water that never seemed to retreat to sea, drowing people in houses and destroying in seconds what had been taken years to build. Disturbing pictures of parents searching for their children, children searching for their parents, people searching for relatives, and pictures of dead bodies on the ground. Millions of tears have been shed. Memories may fade, but the scars will not heal. In memory of nearly 300,000 people who died that day. May you rest in peace.
