Later his first night in the ICU, Archimedes awoke from his coma. He was at first very disoriented, but with the explanations from his orderly, he soon calmed down and began to process what had happened to him. A couple cracked ribs and a broken leg and perhaps a slight concussion were a small price to pay from what happened in his lab. The next morning, Archie's (Archimedes) cousin, Jarrett Treadwell, stopped by to see how he was doing and was pleasantly surprised to see him up and walking around with the help of crutches. 'What a pleasant surprise to see you again, Jarrett!' Archie said in greeting. 'It has been too long since we shared beers together at the corner pub!' 'I couldn't agree more, Archie! When you get out of here, we'll have to do that again! Do you have any idea how long you will have to be here yet?' Just then the orderly came in to interrupt their visit. 'Some good news, Archimedes!' 'Oh, please, just call me Archie! All my friends call me Archie!' 'Oh well, then, Archie? Good news. After a final inspection by the on-duty doctor this afternoon, if you are feeling up to it, you can be released. But only if you have some- one to stay with you for awhile, say, at least a week.' Jarrett broke in and said, 'That won't be a problem. I'll be happy to look after my ole cousin here. We have a lot to catch up on!' Archie looked over at Jarrett with a big grin on his face. You could see he was very happy for Jarrett's offer. 'I don't want to put you out, Jarrett! I know you are working very hard for that trust fund, making them very rich with your expertise.' 'Not to worry, old pal. I told my bosses about you and they told me not to worry about anything. They insisted that if I needed some time off to just take it. They are some really cool guys! I'd love for you to meet them sometime!' So with that, Jarrett and the orderly and Archie visited for a spell till the orderly happened to glance at his watch and remembered he had to finish his rounds. Jarrett continued to visit with Archie and the time flew. Before they knew it, the clock said half past twelve. The Doctor came in and gave Archie the Okay. Shortly thereafter, the orderly came in with a wheel chair and loaded Archie into it. Archie protested he didn't need one, but the orderly told him those were hospital rules. Jarrett took the few belongings of Archie's and went down and brought his car up to the discharge door where Archie and the orderly were already waiting and having a rather animated conversation. Once Archie was loaded they got underway. On the way to Archie's place they discussed what to do about his lab. Archie figured it must be a total loss from the way it was described in the police report. He hadn't seen any pictures of it yet. He wondered if there was much damage to the rest of the house. He hated to think about that since it was the only home he'd ever known. 'Well, perhaps we should just wait until we get there before we start to get too upset.' said Jarrett. M4 characters.
