Archimedes is very apprehensive as they drive up to his house. The outside looks alright, but the yellow police tape is still strung around his lab entrance. Jarrett helps Archie out of his car and assists with his crutches. Then he grabs Archie's belongings and they enter the house. Once inside, they hear noise in the basement where the lab is. 'We better see what that is!' says Archie. 'I hate to think what may have been stolen while I was at the hospital!' He is especially worried about Herman since he remembers he had Herman shut down. Carefully, they make their way down to the basement and much to Archie's surprise, Herman is still busy cleaning up the lab. 'Jarrett, I must introduce you to my invaluable assistant and good friend, Herman. Herman, this is my cousin, Jarrett.' 'I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Jarrett. Would you like me to give you an update on damages and what I have done to limit them, Archie?' Jarrett can't believe his eyes and ears. Sure, he was a fan of robots on television and the movies. But he never dreamed he would actually see one that was doing what Herman was doing or be sophisticated enough to carry on a conversation! Herman finishes sweeping the floor as Archie tells Jarrett about him and how he used some new calculations to develop a smarter brain for his assistant/friend. All Jarrett can do is stare at Herman with amazement as he watches him go through his paces. Once Herman finishes his self appointed task, he comes over to Archie and Jarrett and engages them in friendly conversation. He checks off the list of things that happened after the terrorists reactivated him at their hideout. Then lets Archie know what he has discovered is damaged and what can be salvaged in the lab. He pieced together two servers from parts undamaged by the blast. But two of the monitors are destroyed and some of the computer power has been lost. New parts will be needed to bring them back up to speed and the chair was smashed in the blast. The work benches were sturdily built and still usable. He placed the new electronic brain back in the large beaker but didn't know how Archie had developed the fluids necessary to bring the brain to full development. All in all, this tragedy could have been much worse, and has turned out much better than imagined thanks to Herman. The rest of the house still seems structurally sound although it wouldn't hurt to have it inspected to be sure. No damage was noticed in the upper floors. Archie breathes a huge sigh of relief after Herman gives his report. Jarrett is still standing there with his mouth open, not quite fully comprehending what he is seeing in regards to Herman. Finally, his mind kicks in and he begins to realize what Archie has done here by creating Herman. 'Do you realize what you have done, Archie? There are people out in the world that would kill to have an 'assistant' like Herman. I want to make a quick call to my bosses, with your permission of course. I want to get their reaction to what I have just seen.' Jarrett is on the phone for a few minutes and is engaged in very animated conversation with his boss. During the conversation, Jarrett asks Archie if his bosses could come out and see Herman for themselves. Archie thinks about it and tells Jarrett that if he thinks they are trustworthy people, it will be alright. So they agree to come over the next day. In the meantime, Jarrett gets to know Herman a little better as Archie surveys his lab and checks out the new electronic brain for damage. M4 and DAZ Droid characters. Rendered in Poser 9.
