Description
Before we leave Cove Fort I must confess something. I have no quarrel with the Mormon faith. I follow George Carlin’s statement on religion which is “Religion is like a lift in your shoe. If it helps you stand up straighter and walk a little better, good for you! But don't you go and try to put your lifts in my shoes.” But even if I were inclined to become a member of the Mormon Church one thing would stop me.
Joseph Smith claimed to have transcribed the Book of Mormon from golden plates shown to him by the angel Moroni. Since I suffer from the curse of memory I remember a 1957 song written by Larry Williams titled “Boney Maronie” which begins:
I got a girl named Boney Maronie
she’s as skinny as a stick of macaroni
I see her rock and roll with her blue jeans on
not very fat, just skin and bones
So you can see my problem.

After forty-five minutes my guide and I began exploring the barn which was why I had stopped in the first place. The original barn had burned down and when the new barn was built only 19th century technology was used. When the carpenters arrived to begin construction they were told that no power tools could be used. There is not one nail in this barn. It is held together by wooden dowels. The image on the right shows detail of some of that work.

Hehe! That seems to be a similar problem which I have with Christian hymns. For example 'downward bends his burning eye', which as a visual artist I find extremely stimulating. Another which exercised my mind from the age of eight was 'sitteth on the right hand of God'. What a great construction this barn is, a marvel.
Three very good shots and with your explanation I think you have sold it to me !! We have similar problems with Jehovah's Witness knocking on doors.
Fantasic captures once again... I love this serie !!!
bonnes photos
Wonderful captures I saw one comment about religion on another site, but I won't repeat it here
Fabulous piece of old workmanship, even the horses stables, I am so familiar with all that - when my brother Lothar in Germany did his apprenticeship, they had to learn to do just that, part of the learning curve - I say 'Viva la Buddhism' - thank Goddess ;)) and Boney Maronie, have heard that song long ago ... What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship! It's a lovely building, and those dowels are a showstopper.
