Description
The white peacock is a whitish butterfly, but it has light orange wing borders and a lot of gray brown markings. Each forewing bears a single solid black spot and the hind wings have two smaller black dots. The wingspan is 2 to 2.8 inches (5 to 7 cm). The white peacock is a common butterfly of open, weedy sites along waterways, swamps or ditches, where its larval host plants typically grow. It has a fast, low, erratic flight and is often difficult to approach. Females are significantly larger than males. It is common throughout southern Texas and Florida. Info from FloriData.com. Not my best photo but I had not seen one before. Photo taken at the local swamp. It will zoom for best details.

Lovely butterfly , The weathers gone cold over here and there's not much chance of seeing butterfly's till next year.
I think this is an excellent photo, showing all we need to know about the upper side of this lovely insect. Now we need you to get one closed up, so we can see the underwing. Challenge, Dana!

Oh, what a special butterfly, Dana. I love this picture because they are like very thin brocade, I do not know how to say it in English, but so refined and delicate. Your photo is very special to see, and also the first time I see this butterfly. Thank you too for the info, my friend, as for your lovely (and many) comments; you are too good, if you know what I mean (?) ;-)
