Then I Have You
There are times in my life I feel so much despair,
Then I have you with me showing that you care.
In bed with a breaking heart I cry late at night,
Then waking to find you, knowing it’ll be all right.
No one but you knows exactly how bad I may feel,
They just can’t imagine how my hurt is so very real.
You give me great comfort while for nothing asking,
Since I have your devotion that is forever lasting.
Now that I have you I will no longer feel alone,
All my haunting fears and despair are really gone.
Everyone keeps telling me that you are merely a cat,
But having you here means more to me than that.
They are never here when I walk the floor at night,
And don’t know how the darkness causes me a fright.
Now that I have you showing just how much you care,
I know my days and nights you are going to share.

Wonderful image and ode to a furry best friend. My gatos can be supreme pains: They are convinced I was put on this earth solely to serve THEM LOL! But you're right, they just seem to know when a person needs to be soothed and here they are in you lap. Hope you have better - and more fun - times soon with your little buddy.
