...Than I know what to do with! This is actually an idea that's percolated around in my head for years, but last week I got bit by the "projectitis bug" in a huge way, so not only am I still working on that crazy mask project, but I launched into something entirely new to go with the whole crazy scheme. The concept is based loosely upon the Aztec "Macuahuitl", which the Spanish described as a "sword with obsidian blades". Really a wooden pole that had razor-sharp blades glued along two sides. I didn't want to be walking around with razor-sharp blades in a crowded renaissance festival, so I decided to fake them. This shows most of the various stages, from sculpting the original in modeling clay, to setting up and then making a silicone rubber mold, pouring them, the unpainted "flint blades" and along the bottom is the final piece. I'll probably tinker around a bit more, but it's more-or-less done. So there's my newest "weapon" prop, a 3 foot long pole with stone blades that's lightweight and not sharp. Whew.
