Description
We spent two days in Grand Teton National Park, which is probably not enough time, but that's all we had. I took this on our first morning as we were waiting to go on a ranger led hike to Inspiration Point. It was a cold morning, with clouds partially obscuring the mountains, but we were occasionally rewarded with glimpses of the snow covered peaks such as this one...

This is a really lovely image. When I was there the lake was frozen over and that was in May 2011.

Rugged! Gorgeous area. I've not been there, either, but I'm sure after you've shared three or four pictures of the place, I'll be packing my bags! LOL!
I was there at the same time I was in Yellowstone, as a child. And I made my first painting ever, from a pic of these mountains. Today, I think the Tetons would be a tough subject for a photographer, because they're almost 'too' photogenic; so finding an expressive pov would be challenging. (Trying to avoid the picture-postcard look that the peaks suggest, at times.) This shot surpasses all those challenges. It's beautiful how you framed the cool snow-covered, iconic peaks with those rich green trees. The peaks fit into the opening perfectly. And the sky is a powdery misty thing, in real contrast to the craggy mountainsides and the trees. Also, one side of the trees is in real light---a real contrast to the other side. A very dramatic "peek," looming and cool and beautiful, one of the ways one can capture these beautiful mountains and make them look ever-new. More fine work from you, Claude.
