Description
This photo was taken in the garden area of an assisted living facility. Now I need to explain my absence here at Renderosity and being so far behind in my commenting. Do zoom for best details.
My wife’s parents are 96 (Papa) and 98 (Nonni) and have been living in their own home for over 50 years but lately Papa had a stroke and has fallen a few times. We had a family meeting and we all decided that it was time for them to go into an assisted living facility. There are some horrible places out there but we managed to find a place that is on the grounds of the local hospital where our daughters work. They are now moved in with their own furniture. We had lunch there with them on their first day and the food was restaurant quality. It is a large corner suite with 6 windows. 24 hour - 7 days a week nurses on duty in the building! Rooms are cleaned daily and laundry twice a week. All utilities, cable TV and phone are part of the monthly fee. TVs in the bedroom and living area. The beginnings of Dementia and Alzheimers has been diagnosed. We have just finished cleaning out their house. An estate sale for all of Papas antiques is next. Then comes the painting, laminate flooring, update appliances and selling their house. That will be more than enough to keep them comfortable for the rest of their lives! They are adjusting very well, making new friends and dozens of new people that have not heard Papas stories.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Good capture !!
god bless your wives parents, Dana. hope it all works out well. they raid them all the time don't they. cool pic..
Squirrels are so nimble in their quest to find food, often they may dig holes in your lawn to bury their nuts...if you have a bowling green quality lawn this can be mighty problematic. Great capture. Sounds like a perfect place for them given the circumstances, may they have a carefree and relaxed remainder of their lives there and enjoy watching the wildlife such as this little fellow... always fun to watch. Best Regards.
SWEET
Beautiful capture !!!
Fabulous capture Dana! I'm glad they are adjusting well to their new surroundings
Very lovely and funny scene, very nice capture, Dana!
A super pic Dana and what your family have done sounds great and I wish them well in their new home.
Wonderful capture, dear Dana. Papa and nonni sound happy in there new home, it sounds lovely. Always hard to leave your own home though. Hugs. Di. xx
belle photo
It's great that you've found a good place for them to be looked after but still retain some independence. All my best to them! This squirrel looks very comfortable with working a bird feeder! Mine like to grab handfuls and then hang by their back feet while they eat it, quite entertaining to watch! Wonderful shot, Dana!
An extremely familiar sight! Great news about your wife's parents! Sounds wonderful and extremely expensive, just the job for ones last years!
A lovely capture. Jo's parents have done so well to live in their own house well into their 90's. I hope they will be happy in their new place. xxx
ha ha.... here you had really luck. The little squirrel in flagrante caught! Fine shot, Dana
This is quite a photo! Good luck to your wife's parents! It sounds like a nice place!
Awesome capture of this little fellow, they can be so cute to see in action. Your grandparents in laws have done good to make it into their late 90's before having to live at a retirement home. Nice to have family working nearby to also check in on them. I am sure they will be fine. I know it is hard for all of you though, I went through it years ago with my Mom when she became immobile and I could not handle her myself anymore so I know how trying this can be, good to have other family close will take a lot of stress off your wife...:)))
sweet
We hade this problem until we started putting safflower in the feeders. :)))) We love to bird watch. :)))) We have blue bird babies in our backyard. :))) The babies sound so adorable. :))))) I feel in my heart that Papa and Nonni will get the best of care. :))))))) Most excellent in both capture and details my friend. :)))) Thank you for sharing all of the beauty you see. :)))) Start each day with a smile. :))))
what a sweet and wonderful capture in right time! I never could caught one because they are to fast g
What a sweet capture,Dana,I hope your wife's parents will be happy in their new home:)********
It is amazing to see how determined squirrels can be when it comes to getting food.It sounds like you have lots to keep yourself busy with that house.
Glad to know your parents are doing well. (On my part, I sometimes (at least) wonder if, given current trends worldwide with respect to environmental and resource issues, we might not in fact be better off shifting to an ecovillage to stay...) Squirrels are fascinating little critters. Here in Singapore where I stay they're very afraid of people, though. Is it the same over at your side? :)
Sorry, my mistake, I mean your wife's parents...
In the US squirrels are skittish when around people especially children but when there is food involved they will come closer but always beyond reach of the person feeding them!.
This is a really cute shot!!!!!
Great image and it's great that your wife's parents like there new life!!!
funny image, very nice shot
good that they have children that care about their welfare. great squirrel capture. someone I know had paid a lot of money for a squirrel proof feeder. once when I was there working I seen a squirrel hanging out with one leg upside down reaching the bird feed. she was none to happy when I mentioned it after paying for "guaranteed" product
cool
Superb shot, you caught him very well. Looks very similar to the squirrels here, only the color is different. I am amazed about the age of your in-laws. I wish that they will become 100 years old and more in the new environment.
So, the squirrel's are also looking after your folks as well as getting the odd birdie bonus ? LOL Kidding aside Dana, it sounds like a great place to see out the rest of their lives and having your daughter's nearby will make it seem like home for them both. ~Cheers~
Good shot of Mr. Squirrel taking advantage of a food resource! And 96 and 98! Bless your in-law' hearts! So glad you found a good place for them and that they seem to be settling in nicely. God bless and hope they do well there. It will be a bittersweet time for you and your wife. And a lot of work ahead. Take good care of yourselves. :)
