Is Blobby really feeling those emotions or are the Smiley faces/Emotion-Icons projecting their emotions?
Also, you can tell a human is writing their dialogue because Smiley Faces don't have belly buttons :-)

I suppose it is difficult for a gelatinous blob to express recognizable emotions. :-) Excellent notion well illustrated.
