Description
Yesterday we stopped for lunch along the side of the highway and were treated to this scene. Scattered clouds made for unusual lighting.
For those interested, this is 30-40 miles south of Sheridan on the east side of Interstate Highway 25.

That windmill speaks USA. I have never seen one in the UK.
Beautiful!
To me that windmill says "The Viginian" "The little house on the prarie" "Bonanza" "Raw hide" "The rifleman" and any other western TV series that I may have missed :) This is a great shot Bill!
What a lovely place to have a bite to eat, xx
Lots of sky--I love that feeling of being out in the open up there with the wind in your hair. Beautiful capture, I love those windmills.
I'd love to be in an area like that Great capture
Windmills are so 1800's Western, and, what MrsRatbag said.
wonderful shot here
This is just soooo peaceful and serene. I can see why you wanted to capture this beauty, Bill! A great shot! Wow - Wyoming already... you're making good progress!
Amazing capture Bill. God bless.
So you must've been around here when Tara and I were texting---talk about wide open spaces!! You two have seen some country for sure!!
Wonderful landscape and shot Bill.
Love this landscape scene.
love that wide open space
full screen for maximum enjoyment
You did a great job of getting that shifting light. Wonderful shot!
One of those 'you can see for miles and miles and miles' shots! Outstanding Bill, stark but beautiful Rob
Zoom a must. The overcast feel of this is palpable, in zoom. Daytime, but light shifting, and shadows moving. A melancholy moment, much in shadow, including the windmill which is nearly blackened by the light. The strata in the mountains slope with the land itself. And you caught a few lighter highlights in the landscape (lighter streaks, things like that). Somewhat desolate, but peaceful. (The root of "desolate," after all, is "solus" which gives us solitary, solitude, solo; and it can imply peace and quiet and inwardness, not just emptiness and despair.) I can't imagine stopping in Wyoming for lunch, and being able to sit in an open landscape like this, and then just drive on. A peaceful capture, and the light is dark and consuming.
