though a small section, it has a sweep to it which I can't quite describe. And the sweep all leads to that doorknob, which has wonderful hand-hewn work on it, with all the imperfections that make such work rare and beautiful. And you caught all the angles, beveled surfaces, etc, very clearly. Plus you caught the imperfections (decays) of the wood too. A very moody piece---is that too strong a word, because it's really very clear and straight foward: But "moody" because it's aged, and seems receding into time, and maybe I meant to say "nostalgic". Very sensitively caught, and fine seeing too, to stop and capture this old beauty. And speaking of putting the main subject to one side---that's what you did here; and you posted this the day before your comment in my gallery. So, you've been doing it yourself all along!
Your fine eye for detail is evident here - this is a wonderful handcrafted piece of hardware & seriously weathered wood. I don't think I've seen this model in the doorknob aisle at Home Depot...
Such a beautiful detail you show us here, Tara! A great mood, lovely light and textures, plus such an ancient colors makes this a very special photo, my friend. I love the cross, which is on the upper part of the doorknob, it's so fitting that church.
