If not for the very faintest hint of buildings in the background, I could imagine this to be a scene from an African plain. I like the simplicity of this shot & the contrast between the rich saturated foreground & the grainy, splotchy gray sky. There's just the very slightest tilt to the right that I would have adjusted with a .2 or .3 counter clockwise rotation. That's very nit-picky, I know, but that kind of thing just bothers me - I get a mental image of a marble rolling down from left to right...

I know. It bugged me too, but the ground is sloped, and tilting it more made it look wrong. Maybe I should have done the postwork when I wasn't sitting looking at that view! LOL!

I don't get that tilted feeling myself. A very beautiful line of trees as well as the threatening clouds make a great contrast with the rich warm foreground.

OH WOW ! Love this shot, because the cold grey sky against the warmer ground and the darkness of the middle bushes and that lovely tree makes it a very beautiful shot to me.

I don't think I would want to fly into that cloud bank.

This is a really great moody shot, Tara! The sky is awesome, even if it seems threatening, and it's a wonderful contrast with the warm color of the grass.

Another of your flawless moody landscapes/skyscapes. Unlike photosynthesis (or you), I don't find the slight tilt at all disturbing - landscapes are seldom absolutely flat. If it was the horizon on the ocean, however, ....

I understand Claude's reaction, but I also appreciate yours, as you wanted to be loyal to what you saw. (And I"d love to see another shot of this with that big freakin' marble rollin' down the incline...just go back, buy a huuuuge marble, and make it happen...then tell Claude, and the world will be complete.) It's really a 3 part shot, the ground, the trees, and the sky. With a tad of homes or something in the background. It's suitably bleak, and yes, it does have an African plain feel to it. Very empty and foreboding. And very much a storm from the middle part of the country---north or south. I recognize that sky from up here. Simple, moody and foreboding. And, if one blinks, one could almost imagine that land as a big brown-silt river. An emotionally evocative shot, Tara.
