Description
Five eyes must be better than two:)
Forward facing portholes on the armored bridge/wheelhouse of the World War II Destroyer Escort, USS Stewart now sitting on display for all visitors to climb in/over/through at the east end of Seawolf Park in Galveston, Texas. And climb we did...
The day was as grey as the paint job.

They raised a smile from me Bill.
title fits, well seen
Made me chuckle. Hope you all ok. Xx
But you had a great time! I do enjoy the different vision that you and Tara have!
Superb capture Bill. God bless.
Love this POV.
I may make a trip down there to see it. I went on the submarine there before. imaginative title
HEHEHE! I love this one and the title. Had a big smils again :-)))))))))))
for that steely glare
fantastic
Neat, Bill. The writ-up really added interest. dick
Battleship grey! other colour you'll see is Red Lead! a Sailor's two favorite colours.......NOT! Great capture and apt title
cool
Nice one mate. I have just googled it. Andrew
Those flanges must be invaluable in the running of the ship ... just look at those welds! THOSE aren't going anywhere!! Well seen, hon, and a great shot. The repetition and perspective are great! :*
Nicely done! I'm sure those eyebrows are very useful to keep ocean spray off the viewing surfaces, right? They sure are cool to see. Great composition!
Excellent POV, Bill.
AHA! So THAT's where a "fly boy" goes to hide. Nobody would expect to see him on/in ship! Armoured bridge on a DE? I have a hard time believing it. They were called "tin cans" for a reason (as were also the DDs). But it makes for a real cool photo, particularily the repetitiveness of the subject. Look like a bunch of eyes on some insect. As for the grey, well, if the weather was the same grey, would we be able to see the ship at all? Interesting with different paint schemes on ships (often due to the color of the ocean and sky where the ship served). Didn't mean to give a sermon. Any chance of more photos of this tin can? Would love to see more. Photos from engine room? Keep up the good work! :-)
I really like this shot, Bill! The repeating portholes and patters are fun - despite the gray day. :-D
Nice and very interesting shot mate.. Looks like a day that's normally a day at an airshow in England.. Well one I attend! lol Well shot. Rob
Very good idea. Very funny.
Awright---Tara said "flanges" and "welds". STOP EVERYTHING! Where does she get off to write "flanges" and "welds"??? Quote: "Just look at those welds!"??? Excuse me?????? I DON'T EVEN KNOW KNOW WHAT A WELD IS!!!! (You been teachin' her things, boy? You been fillin' her head with dangerous facts???) In all the years I've known tara, not ONCE has she said "flange". And never---never---has she said "duuuuude: great welds!!!!" NEVER. (It sounds obscene.) Ok, I got that out of my system, but take note: I'm upset. Now to the pic...("just look at those welds"??? She was a BOOKKEEPER, for god's sake...) A simple shot but it really tells the story. Whatever flanges and welds are, you got the simplicity and fat boldness of these bolts and---ok---welds. It's so utilitarian, so bleak and strong. And your angle towards the space beyond makes it even more so. And it does look like eyebrows, lol. Those are the flanges---I just looked them up. They're so simple, but they're so strong. Very simple shot, and bleak and eloquent. (Ok: Does your wife know the ETYMOLOGY of "flange"??? Neither do I. But I looked it up: It's "flanchir". (Cognate with "flank".) It's from the Old French. They sat around the castles and cried: "Mon dieu! I'll have a spot of flanchir with my lamb!" And the other person said, "flanchir's a metal RIB, dear: Ya can't drink it." And they got a divorce...Do you guys know what a "whippet" is? I STILL don't know what it does, but I know the word. Ok, my server's sputtering again, I better move on...)
WOW!!! They do look like eyebrows - a great eye to notice that!
