I wonder if you ever did design work...shots like these show an innate feel for balance, in the log mass on one side and all the grasses on the other (heavy vs light), with the big leaf kind of 'bringing the two together'. And you have them on diagonals, which is musical and rhythmic. It's just well designed. (I know you didn't "design it," but you caught the design, cropped it and presented it to us.) Also, the bright yellows and oranges in the leaf contrast with the deep reds of the wood beautifully. And, of course, you have one of those dark jutting things that are common to these trees---ie, that jutting piece of wood or bark above the leaf, a big sappy dark thing, like the 'black sheep' in the family that always shows up but no one wants to talk to. Poor little bugger, all covered over in sap and wanting to get into the shot...Really well composed, Claude, and you do have an eye for electricity. Another jump-out-at-us capture from you. Those madrones have to be smiling...
