Description
Last Thursday brought not only cold temperatures but snow. due to the possible inclement conditions and all the hills we have, the schools closed and So did Treasure House. On my way home, I stopped on the Washougal River Bridge and snapped a couple pictures of the ice floating down the river.
At the time of this photo session, it was a balmy 19F with a wind-chill temp of 1F.

Nice shot...Are you as sick of winter as I am? Hurt so much 50mg Oxy doesn't even take the edge off :-(
This photo give the idea of cold times!!
looks migthy cold, Mike. i like the pov.
Ahh! The never ending diversity and creativity of Nature's Art! A beautiful photo, Mike!
Good picture! It looks cold!
Boy - - - that is some ice...great shot, yet it makes me sooooo cold.
That looks so cold. Are you still on your bike to work??
brr
N i c e...if you can see our little iceberg here.... 3 feet thick :)
Magik tell true whit it but you know we are not better for as much ((5++))
Super shot. It is very rare that we get ice floating down the rivers over here. We have had incessant rain this winter and a lot of floods which you may have seen on your news bulletins.
Very nice shot, Mike. The water here in Michigan are all frozen over.
Thanks for the sitemail about your normal weather patterns out there Mike. I tend to forget that your part of the country, though northern, is more of a rainforest type of climate. Because of your northern local I tend to think you guys get similar weather as we here in NE, but you don't. Funny. I never stopped to think that seeing ice floating down the river would be uncommon to you. I really NEED to get out there to the north west and see it for my self. It has always been one of the highest on my "wish to visit" list. It looks so BEAUTIFUL on TV and in movies and pictures. I would LOVE to hitch up my fifth wheel and travel out through Montana on to Washington and Oregon. sigh Maybe some day.
What strikes me more than the coldness is the clarity of the water. It seems so clean and clear. The biggest river around here is the Missouri, and on a good day you can see to a depth of 6 inches.... all the rest is muddy. A great capture, Mike!
That looks very cold.. Great capture! :))
Excellent perspective Mike, great shot!
very nice shot
Those were always my favorite days.
and were complaining here in California cause temps are lower ?? shame on us I sure hope it clears up for you too soon would not be enough now would it ? stay warm :
we was only 2 degrees above our record 14 for the particular day recently beautiful winter capture. did you put snow chains on your bike? ?
"It was a balmy 19F with a wind-chill temp of 1F." So, summertime in the Northwest? Did you see the icebreaker that did this? A very cool capture.
What a cool shot with great POV. And agree above. WIW that's cold. So cal today is 70. Only ice I can find is in the freezer. Nice.
brr cold! strange that something so unpleasant can be so pleasant to see wonderful shot!!! keep warm?!!
Cool photo, looks cold.
Very nice work on this capture, Mike. We are experiencing the very same thing here right now.
Oh dear nice and cool for you then, the titanic better be careful navigating those waters :-).. Great capture and POV Mike!
I doubt there's any open water around here .. Well, maybe the Niagara River and the Falls of course, and down the road a bit is Lake Ontario, that's pretty deep so it might be open away from shore. Lake Erie is pretty much frozen over. Gorgeous photo .. It's pretty unusual for you to have weather this cold, isn't it?
Excellent shot!!!!!! WE last two years in Athens have temperature from 10 to 19 degree Celsiou
Lovely capture!
Excellent shot
