Description

Humans have an interesting trait, no matter what it is that we make, no matter what use it will serve, we can't help but also think and design it around how *it looks*. We are driven by more of a visual esthetic than many of us even realize, but if you've ever watched someone shopping for a car you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. So, even though it's likely that the people who actually travel in this ship will never see the outside of it in person, the designers still paid attention to it's appearance, and the marketing team who promoted this ship for passengers to the new colonies in the outer solar system most definitely used that appearance in their efforts. We're visual, we're artistic, and we care about how we look. -------------- The ship is entirely my own creation, built from Bryce Primitives. Main hull texture is my own creation, while the support framework uses a preset. Engine exhausts were also rendered in Bryce during the same rendering pass with the ship, but separated in Photoshop during compositing with the background to allow stars to shine through. Background stars were made in Photoshop with a plugin called "Glitterato", but the heavily altered to give them the "lensflares". Faint Nebula effects are a combination of photos of real clouds and Photoshop filters.

Pleasing and realistic spaceship design. I like the framework look of the vessel. I enjoyed reading your comments about visual design too. The subtly colored background is interesting as well.

Nice! This texture looks a little more "straight from the showroom floor."

The showroom floor in the spacecraft dealerships of the outer galaxy, must really be an aesthetic sight to behold, if this is a prototype. :) Very awesome work, Michael. :)
