Description

One of the things that fascinates me is that many of the asteroids NASA has looked at aren't alone. It almost seems like they travel in clumps. Which makes mining them a bit more tricky. So, as I continue to tinker around with figuring out how to make textures and asteroids in Bryce that actually resemble what NASA's probes have returned, I've come up with this. It's getting there. Not quite the same, alas, but closer. The ship is my own model, an "Asteroid Prospector" I made a few years ago and once again I'm re-using. Most of the textures are my own, with a few pre-sets. "Wear and tear" effects added in Photoshop. The asteroids are also from Bryce, using my own textures. No postworking on the asteroids, just composited them straight out of the Bryce render into my background. Background was made in Photoshop, stars came from a plugin called "Glitterato" and the lensflares, nebulae, etc. all came from various filters and several layers. Thanks for taking a look, and as always comments and critiques are definitely welcome.

Yep, definitely getting closer to what NASA has shown us. Really like that model of the ship. When a ship is almost as large as some of the clustered asteroids, one wonders if their mass might not upset the gravitational dance of the cluster.
