I wonder how many people have occupied this bench over the years? The church was finished in 1755, but the pews are undoubtedly of a more recent vintage. Still ... they appear to be hand made and lovingly maintained, and Mission Concepción has an active congregation.

alwaysonmymind wondered how many asses have sat in these pews. I guess it depends on how many politicians attended church. A very nice image of these old wooden benches. There use brings a wonderful polished sheen to the wood over time that I find very attractive. Mission furniture is usually hand made by those living there so it is a good bet these were made by the brothers or workers at the mission.
Beautiful to behold, brutal on the backside. I guessed the subject matter by the title in the ebot, but was still astonished by the superb photo.
Beautiful woodwork on those and very cool capture. I can imagine the rest of the wood art in that building.
I would find it interesting to know some of the stories and prayers those old benches have heard. Thanks for sharing this glimpse of hand and heart made workmanship.
