Description
The pride of home ownership, captured 12/3/13, early AM, about 1.3 miles from home.
I've followed the erosion of these particular beauties over the years, and have posted pics of them.
Ironically, the doors are situated in a relatively nice neighborhood, at least in front where the houses are.
And, considering the condition of the wood, I'm not sure if scraping, sanding and a couple of coats of paint would suffice to bring the doors back to their original glory.
Oh well, heh heh, just as long as they open and close, that's what counts in the end, i.e., Form follows Function.
Ta-ta.

Great capture !!!
Excellent captures!
superb textures with these old painting areas !!!
Great old painting garage doors This is a nice texture!!Very cool pictures!!!
Great collage Harry, and a bit of paint might just save these.
What a great find; in thinking about it as I perused the wrinkled and peeling surfaces of these doors I started to wonder if there are any of these regular old wooden garage doors left. It seems all that I see now are the newer fiberglass or metal with glass windows in lovely patterns, doors that are guaranteed to last and last and last without warping...they're nicely designed, but lack the character of the heavy old wooden ones. I remember heaving ours up and down by the rope handle, and I can almost feel that muscle burn it induced. And yes, as it was a double-wide span of wood, it started bending in the middle despite the reinforcing; I guess they all do, eh? Great memories from these excellent shots from your part of the world, Harry!
Plenty of old wooden garage doors down my way.
that some old ones and made out of wood too
I have wooden doors on my garage but they open like room doors, much easier! I have never seen wood up and over before, fascinating .
Natural Beauty! Aloha
Cool shots!
wow, andrea's never seen these types of garage doors! I thought they were everywhere, some years back...and you got quite a reminiscence from Denise. Well come to think of it, my parents had these too, only in better repair. (Man, if my dad ever saw our old garage door even approach this condition, we'd be out there all week peeling, painting, you name it...) Love the patterns here. And that old varnished red, against the ugly green. (Kind of aqua green.) You gave us both doors on top, and then soloed each door after that, solid montage. The frames are peeling too, even the wall and roof around some of it...Amazing these are still in use---it looks like an abandoned home. Love the capture, and while I remember other shots of garage doors, I don't remember which ones were part of which series: I'm gonna check some earlier members of this series now. Love this capture. A real decay-fest.
