Saying anything at the Salton Sea is a bit on the surrealistic side is just redundant. I did like the minimalist compositions that seemed to be everywhere, though. Something about formerly expensive toys bleaching out in the desert sun appeals to my slightly warped sense of reason. These odd juxtapositionings are everywhere down there.

I wonder what some far in the future archaeologist will think of all this as they carefully brush centuries of sediment away from these cast of treasures.

Something is going on. That hose is a nose, that tube a mollusc body. Or maybe an entrance to an underground world. Shades of Worms.

It is a neat junkyard...with just enough leavings to make one wonder what happened to everything else when the former owners abandoned this residue. No question, the hose snaking out of the large concrete thing makes for a great centerpiece in this bizarre landscape. I was fascinated by the place but very glad to leave. A fascinating piece:)

Poor thing has lost its dingdurum. Nice composition but why leave behind a boat and trailer? Odd place.
Most interesting shot of the wanton desolation and disparate articles. Actually, hosed, in my limited vernacular, means being taken advantage of, cheated, shafted, or taken to the cleaners.
What bothers me about this is that the owners of the boat(s) never retrieved them. You got to ask why? Great capture and very intriguing

I was thinking of Gulliver's Travels when I first saw the thumbnail of this shot and when I opened it I still had that thought in my mind, it looks like a giant bathtub and water cylinder with equally up scaled pipe work :) Sorry I have a surreal sense of humour at times, a great shot :)
Maybe they should change the name to Surreal Sea? You're right, it is quite appealing in its own way. Those of us that love inexplicable stuff are fascinated! Wonderful "found art" shot!
I really need to visit this place..... What a treasure-trove for post-apocalyptic scenes... This is great, Tara! It's almost as if the hose has awakened from its nest in the culvert, and is now looking for breakfast....

All I can think of is how horrible it is that all that trash is just thrown down like that. People that do that need horse whipped.
It it a most incredible place, I haven't seen it up this close ever, but you caught that eerie, weird feeling so well.
