Description

We have arrived in south Florida safe and sound after a wonderful trip of 1,588 miles (2556 km). Thank you to all that wished us a safe trip. As we packed the car, I noticed only a single flower was left in our neighbors garden. I thought it was a clematis but now realize that it is not. Thank you Alan (Katraz), Andrea (DurleyBeachBum) and Jeff (jayfar) for helping with the ID of this flower!!! It is a lovely zoom! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

If the plant is low growing matt forming I reckon it's a Campanula they are often sold as bedding / pot plants

A most lovely shot, dear friend. And great to hear you and Jo arrived safe at home again. We have this flower in our garden, and we call it Platycodon. What the Internet says about it: Platycodon grandiflorus (from Greek "πλατυκώδων", meaning a broad bell) is a species of herbaceous flowering perennial plant of the family Campanulaceae, and the only member of its genus. It is native to East Asia (China, Korea, Japan and East Siberia). This species is known as platycodon. Depending upon the region, it is also referred to as the Korean bellflower, Chinese bellflower, Japanese bellflower, common balloon flower, or balloon flower (referring to the balloon-shaped flower buds). You can take a look here, Dana: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platycodon_grandiflorus

2556 ks from where we are ? - that is not too far after all, hello neighbour! LOL It seems almost everybody helped you out with the flower recognition - nothing more left to say except for this, now that I checked my Botanica it's a Campanula lactiflora 'Pritchard's Variety' (a native to the Caucasus region and eastern Turkey) *** and all that's left to do for both of you now, is to sit back, put your feet up and relax, have a little drink and enjoy the stay!
