Description

We have arrived in south Florida safe and sound after a wonderful trip of 1,588 miles (2556 km). Thank you to all that wished us a safe trip. As we packed the car, I noticed only a single flower was left in our neighbors garden. I thought it was a clematis but now realize that it is not. Thank you Alan (Katraz), Andrea (DurleyBeachBum) and Jeff (jayfar) for helping with the ID of this flower!!! It is a lovely zoom! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Glad you had a safe trip. Only a single flower left? The poor flower must be feeling lonely. :) Real lovely little blossom with its five violet petals. Did it have any fragrance? And you didn't pluck it out of the cranny like Alfred Lord Tennyson would have done, did you?

I learn so much in this great community! I had no idea as far as the ID went, though the flower looked familiar. But when I went to the link that Jacomina suggested I definitely remembered seeing the Japanese seal. I've seen it on jewelry and fabric. The pentagon arrangement of the flowers signifies protection against misfortune. Beautiful capture! Wonderful detail and color. The petals have a lovely shimmering sheen to them too.
