Description
RIP Flower! These little fellows were one of my faves at the zoo. I enjoy shooting the animals up close and personal, like the reptiles from the last few days. There was a chance of eye contact, which was what I liked best. But sometimes, I just couldn't. They just wouldn't come close enough, and the habitats at Melbourne Zoo were BIG. So now for some animals caught with the long lens!

I like these little guys so much but I think it is a surikate. In German they are called "Erdmaennchen", little man that lives in the earth. The funniest fact is that my neighbour's familyname is "Erdmann" but he doesn't live beneath, he is a lawyer. LOL!
Bernie a Meerkat and a Surikate are the same thing.

I love watching these guys; at the Seattle zoo it's harder to get close to them, since mostly they're behind dirty glass and a pile of kids are in the way. At the zoo in Tacoma it's easier, and while the glass is still dirty there's a lot more of it to walk around to find a good vantage point. You got a great capture of the classic meerkat lookout pose, well done!

I think that Meerkats are such a funny social group. I could watch them for hours. A fantastic photo!
Really funny creatures. I've never met one for real, but when I see them on the TV I like them very much! Great picture!
