Description
This species of Death Adder, Acanthophis antarcticus, is native to Australia and is one of the most venomous land snakes in the world. Reaching a length of 70-100 centimeters, they are found in forests, woodlands, grasslands and heaths of the eastern coast of Australia. The death adder is a master of camouflage, due to its band stripes, hiding beneath loose leaf litter and debris in woodland, shrub land and grassland. They eat small mammals and birds, often lying in wait for days until prey passes. It covers itself with leaves making itself inconspicuous and lies coiled in ambush, twitching its grub-like tail close to its head as a lure. When an animal approaches to investigate the movement, the death adder quickly strikes, injecting its venom and then waits for the victim to die before eating it. This ambush hunting makes the death adder more of a threat to humans.

Superb capture my friend. They look similar to our Puff Adder. Here is some information of it on Wikipedia. Bitis arietans is a venomous viper species found in savannah and grasslands from Morocco and western Arabia throughout Africa except for the Sahara and rain forest regions.[2] It is responsible for causing the most snakebite fatalities in Africa owing to various factors, such as its wide distribution and frequent occurrence in highly populated regions.[3] God bless.
