Description
Yesterday we visited another coastal artillery battery. This one was built in 1904 at a post by the name of Fort Columbia. The US Army began building fortifications with concrete in the late 1800s...getting away from earth and brick works of earlier eras.
Caught this window while wandering around in some subterranean rooms below where the big guns once stood...

Fantastic shot .
Nice shot and great light capture!
Very cool capture
What a moody and atmospheric shot; that lighting is marvelous. Well captured!
nice shot
Cool photo...
so, are you out on parole. Beautifully lit
Superb capture Bill. God bless.
I love the light and shadow, really wonderful.
Very evocative and nice lighting
Atleast there was a bit light. Excellent shot :)
Nice light and mood Bill. Have a good trip.
Cosy in a peculiar way!
A subtle, understated light study - very nice...
Oh, my! I thought at first this was a prison cell, and that being the reason I haven't seen much from you lately. So, you're doing a grand tour of all the old forts in Washington. You must have a whole library of interesting architectural fortification work. Any chance of us seeing more of these old sites? Keep up the good work! :-)
They are fascinating places to visit aren't they Bill. I'm so glad you didn't use a flash and chose to let the natural lite pour in. A great shot mate.
MARVELOUS WORK
Wonderful! Just my sort of thing. :P I can't imagine how I missed this window, but it makes me wonder where you were that I wasn't! Superb pic, hon. Nicely done!
This is an excellent shot Bill!!!
Looks like it could double as a prison too!
Wonderful lighting, dear Bill. A Sterling capture. Hugs for all day. Di. xx
The history behind this window, wonderful!!
Excellent lighting. Thought evoking image.
For a moment there, I thought you'd been tossed into the dungeon, Bill! :-D Wonderful lighting here - you nailed the exposure; not easy to do in an environment like this. Was this JPG or RAW?
Cool contrast and composition, and so suggestive of a jail cell in the old west. Earthen works were the thing during the Civil War.
excellent
Subtle lighting in this photo mate.. Not much of view for plane spotting though ;-) Good one! Rob
Brilliant photo with this light. :)
I like the light, really like it
