Description
I snapped this image back in May when I visited Cape Town. The Radisson where we stayed is right on the sea and one evening the moon was shining beautifully and the city lights were coloring the clouds in this orange hue that I had to take a picture. The problem was that I did not have a tripod and handheld did not work at all. I ended up putting my camera on the balcony railing (I know, I know... that was dumb) and shot off quite a few shots - most of them with rather pleasing results.
Thank you for visiting and for your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Bougainvillea - for Ronnie."
Hugs, Carin

This is stunning. A beautiful view.
Wow this is so good I love the colour and lighting on this image.
Not at all what I think of when I hear the name. Lovely!
OH It is a most beautiful result... so is it now a sin using the railing. I do that all the time, so I am a sinner :D
Fantastic result. Terrific waterfront. Nothing wrong with a balcony railing. Just make sure you keep a tight grip on your camera.
Fantastic light and mood Carin.
Home Sweet Home! I really like the long exposure, Carin. Clive
Beautiful!
Outstanding capture Carin. I would love to take some night captures myself of Cape Town Carin. God bless.
Fantastic shot-excellent exposure.
Very beautiful. Well done!
LOL I have been right there sweets, I once had my camera when I forgot the pod balanced on my back pack on top of a wall with a 30 foot drop hehehe! But if you want the shot we'll do anything eh? Absolutely lovely night shot Carin
What a gorgeous scene, excellent exposure!!
that turned out very well Carin :)
OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!
Really beautiful shot!!!!!
Great night shot.
I've used the balcony railing technique too! You can still hand on to the strap without transferring any vibrations!
Beautiful warm glow, and I love the effect of the long shutter speed on the water, great shot!! Using the railing is fine, as long as you are also using a strap on the camera too! :)
wonderful image Carin, and I am sure many of us would have done the same...
Such a gorgeous shot! This is absolutely stunning, Dierbaar. The key is to not let go of the camera ! :P
It came out beautifully Carin!
Beautiful light. And I'd say using the railing was some smart improvisation that led to some excellent results...
xlt 'improvised' nightshot
hehe, fit great with the balcony railing, what a luck! stunning result, beautiful colors!
What an excellent shot! You did very very well here! I'm still working on nightshots, but I only get one chance a year to do it since I'm loathe to go out alone at night.
