Description
Still Capitol Reef, still looking at the same formations. This is number 4 of 9.
Moenkopi at the bottom ... the mud and silt layers in chocolate browns undulate across the cliff face, deeply cut by wind and water.
Chinle above that, all gray and lavender and burgundy, the original layered stripes falling gracefully into dunes.
At the top is the huge mass of Wingate Sandstone, which falls off in chunks, always leaving a sheer face.

Nice shot Tara! Capital Reef is one of those places you really need to get into the back country to really see it and it is really spread out in many directions. Never had enough time to do that yet, but one day I will...maybe lol! See u out there!

Great layered landscape against a classic pastel sky. Capitol Reef was one of the places I had hoped to visit on last year's trip to the southwest, but we just didn't have time...
