Description
A view of the Vancouver skyline from Queen Elizabeth Park, which is the highest point in the city. The mountains in the background are part of the North Shore Mountains. According to Wikipedia: "Although not particularly high, these mountains are rugged and should not be underestimated. Severe weather conditions in the North Shore Mountains often contrast dramatically with mild conditions in nearby Vancouver. This is especially true in winter, but even in summer large precipices are hidden very close to popular hiking trails and it is very easy to get lost, despite being in sight of the city. Those who venture into the North Shore Mountains for whatever reason should be well prepared at any time of year."
One day while we were in Vancouver last month, we drove up to one of these mountains - Mt. Seymour - having read about some hiking trails there. We parked in a ski area parking lot & though there were one or two other cars there, there were no other people around at all. We walked past the deserted ski lifts & down the hill a little bit to where the trail was supposed to start, but found that the entire area where we planned to hike was covered with snow. We weren't dressed or equipped for a snow hike, so we just took a few photos & turned around. Based on the warning above, I guess that was a wise decision...

That is such a gorgeous view. Topographical prominence is everything! The mountains rise straight out of the sea. Fabulous!
Cool shot! I once lived high up on the mountain side of North Vancouver, so this brings back memories. We would get sudden and large snowfalls that would cause people to have to leave their cars and walk up the last mile to where we lived, which was the end to the road upwards. A few hours later it would all melt away and people would go get their cars again.
Is there something about Vancouver, BC that makes the images all come out blueish. I was there spring a year ago and all my landscapes are blue like this too. It is not at all unpleasant but just really noticeable. I assumed it was because I did not have my white balance set right but you have it too and you tend to shoot warm.
