Description
On the banks of the Columbia River in Washington State you'll find a full-scale replica of Stonehenge as it was originally built.
I haven't been to England to visit the original, but I hear it's all fallen down anyway. :P
What a fascinating place to photograph! Every step, every turn, is quite literally a different view. I promise to space these out so you don't get glassy-eyed bored with them.

I've seen the original and yea, it's all falling over and everything. I hear that now you can't even go right up to the original anymore; heard they put a fence up.

Interesting shot with a mix of shades and colours, I like it. Just two points from a compulsive pedantic: 1. The replica is how they THINK Stonehenge looked before it was abandoned; 2. They now know it was built and expanded on, so what we see today is the remains of the third or fourth version , they aren't sure which.

Didn't know you had a replica in the US. Have seen the original many times as I have passed by on my way to and from the London area.
Didn't realize Stonehenge monoliths were connected like this! Wonder why they decided on these with so many choices out there, but it looks like a great place to add more! A monolith park...kool!

Its a great shot of a concrete henge but nothing like the original which is still standing well most of it , I have walked around it before the fence the fence went up to stop too many tourists ruining it , It was built by stone age people in 3100 BC a very long time before the USA was even dreamed of so It has every right to have some bits missing, the stone was solid blue sandstone and each one weighs about 4 tons it was moved from Wales I'm not sure how many miles but I think about 240miles ( no JCB diggers or big cranes or Low loader trucks ) All done with blood sweat and tears.

Yes, the original has seen some hard usage over the centuries, but that's to be expected, I suppose. The fencing does keep us back, since I'm sure there are idiots who would try to tag it or dig pieces out. It kind of ruins photos to have that orange plastic stuff in the way, but oh well. This one almost looks too neat and perfect, they need to mess the ground up some and plant some grass around the stones. Wonderful capture!

Great capture Tara. These look better than the original, even though some of the original columns still stand, and I wonder if these are aligned with the celestial bodies to allow prediction of equinoxes and such!

OOoh! A calendar! That's my take on it, anyway...but then I'm into calendars and thresholds and stuff and so it stands to reason that I'd see something when looking at this. I love it too. It makes me think of Agara, but that's not too big a stretch...I wonder if something Agaran will come out of this? As far as I know, they didn't go around dragging big rocks around the place and standing them up, but who knows? I love this shot and more would be most welcome!
