Description

Seriously now, it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday. Today we peaked at 35. It was sunny and pleasant yesterday, today it was THIS. It's enough to make me consider offering my soul, or maybe my non-existant firstborn (it really is a good thing there isn't a firstborn, by the way) for an end to the back/forth teasing the weather has been doing to us. I want spring, and I want it now.

You know, I think this is what went through here last night... We had a cool but beautiful day today in Missouri. Just don't send that stuff back this way! LOL

Yesterday morning it was in the mid 60's though rainy then just before lunch the temp plummeted by 20 degrees as the cold front moved in. I believe this is "Blackberry Winter" as we have already had Redbud Winter and Dogwood Winter (the traditional cold periods in Spring are named for the things that bloom after). The one left after this is Locust Winter then it will really be full-on summer. With the cold periods named like that you get used to them coming along and you know how long you have till they are done. =) Our last frost is usually in Dogwood Winter but this current cold snap had some frost warnings with it too.

Even here in Germany we had a long cold winter. Now it's still cold, but the trees are in bloom yet. Great shot!

I think Spring might finally be turning on. Mother Nature had to jiggle the switch a few times, because there's a short somewhere, so I hear. Anyway, I think Spring is somewhere in the general vicinity of the part of the planet that's supposed to have spring now. And I'm so not surprised that you got snow on the same day that temperatures here in the Windy City did some of the same distastefully-strange stuff. Oh well, at least it's warmer today. Or is it? Despite the fact that I want spring NOW, I do have to also say that I like this photo. There's something magical about falling snow, even at the wrong time of the year. I think it's the promise that it maintains. Snow is water that's been packaged for later consumption, after all, and hopefully the presence of snow means the presence of nice, cute, little crustaceans at some point in the future. Well, for me it does, anyway. This is a great shot.
