Description
Several days ago Tara (auntietk) posted a picture of Glen Canyon Dam. Click Here for Reference.
This was Tara's very safe perch...notice the high chain link fences along the walkways across the bridge. Somebody had us photographers in mind when that fence went up...there are slots in the chain link for your camera lens!
...before the dam could be constructed, this bridge had to be built to get construction material to the other side of the canyon. The bridge was completed in 1959. The dam began generating electricity in 1966 and its reservoir was completely filled by 1980.

Nice view of the dam Bill.
Great capture of this awesome bridge Bill!
And I was thinking about suicidal bungee jumpers! However, with winds and all that, I'm glad for the safety precautions. And, for the thoughtfulness of putting slots for cameras in the fencing. This is the type of bridge one would really enjoy walking over, taking photos along the way! Nice contrast with the colors. The short distance between the anchor point of the arch and the support pillars give an idea of how really steep the sides of the canyon are! Good photo, Bill!
A super zoom Bill and I can say that I have been over this bridge.
Nice POV on this shot. Well done.
WOW! Everything is so big over there LOL!!!
Fantastic in zoom!!
I don't think I could cope with this.
Fabulous !
Superb capture Bill. God bless.
Spectacular perspective my friend, amazing capture, fantastic place!
Awesome in all respects, Bill.
Awesome pic Hugs Susan~
a magical picture
Fantastic capture Bill There must have been an engineer who was a hobby photographer
And here I thought she was throwing caution to the wind, laughing in the face of danger, and dancing on the precipice of......well, something.. :-D At any rate, you both got some spectacular photos! Nice of them to build in lens openings in that fence!
It is super cool. 5+!
This reminds me of the bridge that crosses Hoover Dam; amazing what they can do. Dams, bridges in the most incredible places!!
Great shot Bill, and I was wondering! Walking across that bridge is not for the squeamish!
I actually walked all the way across the bridge three times ... over and back and over again, and it was quite comfy! The barriers between the sidewalk and the traffic are beefy, and the chain link fence is plenty tall and sturdy enough to give a feeling of safety. It's a terrific bridge all the way around, and I'm still trying to figure out the height thing. I swear it doesn't look any higher than Deception Pass when you look down, but it's obviously MUCH higher. An interesting phenomenon. I think this was the best shot of the day of the bridge, hon. Love the shadow!
This bridge looks like it would feel more comfortable than Deception Pass. What a lovely view here!
wonderful
Very nice capture.
I recall this very much. very similar to the bridge to the South West of there across the Colorado also
Mmmmm! Now then... Building that would NOT be something I'd like to be doing.. Driving over it would send shivers! lol Fine POV mate! Rob
stunning!
Great angle on this. :-)
