The Horse of Marken
Yesterday we were on the island of Marken (now a day’s connected by a dike to the mainland) in the IJsselmeer (IJssellake --- Southersea yearssssss ago).
At the feet of the “Horse of Marken” (= light house of Marken) there is, two days after the frost / winter has left the Netherlands, still a lot of ice despite the fact that the temperature is well above freezing point (7 degrees Celcius) but due to the wind the chill factor gave a feeling of below freezing point!!
Tomorrow I will post more about ice around the Horse of Marken. Today a photo of the Old Light house at Marken.

The Paard van Marken ("Horse of Marken") is a lighthouse on the Dutch peninsula Marken, on the IJsselmeer. It was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive lighthouse had been on the location since the early 1700s; the current lighthouse is a Rijksmonument since 1970
