Description
Mandy and I went to the beach yesterday morning, smelling everything (Mandy) and taking pictures (me). She helped with a few of the photos (she jerks on her leash just as the shutter clicks, resulting in something I had not intended), but I left the smelling business to her.
This is the public pier next to the Mukilteo ferry dock.

I am pleased to read that both of you started out together, but then decided to, each do their own 'thang' ... not a bad result Tara ;) I noticed the different type of seagull you have, compared to ours - same 'Gestalt' - but other feather pattern and colours, maybe this is what happens, when races mix, same as with humans! - they probably were very friendly with pigeons? grrr - quack, quack -grrr ... LOL cool image, BB

Nicely captured Tara. They all face in the same direction - does that mean the wind came from the left? I know range cattle always face away from the wind!

Well, I wouldn't want to walk that pier with a sandwich in my hand! Great capture of these opportunists; apparently they weren't too concerned about Mandy, but given the size of our gulls they could probably pick her up if she became a nuisance and drop her in the water.
Hummmmm.... I thought I saw that last gull on the left with little cardboard sign earlier... It said "will work for popcorn"... LOL! A delightful shot, Tara! Did Mandy help you out with this one? :-)
Synchronized gulls! I love em. Chicago gulls are similar...though maybe a little more surly. I love this shot and I can imagine Mandy finding all sorts of interesting things to smell. So much of a dog's brain is dedicated to interpreting smell and bloodhounds are able to pick up a scent carried on as few as 12 molecules in an open field! That's kinda cool! And now you've got me wondering what gulls smell like, though that's a question I don't really need an answer to. Brilliant shot. I love the gulls. They're gulls with a distinct, self-defined purpose! Oh, and are the gulls out that way carnivorous? I've seen the gulls in Chicago eating chicken!

Hummmmm I wouldn't want to walk on that pier barefoot that is for sure.. may need the pooper scooper for that......... or jump from it either....may have residual residue left there....... great pic tho.........reminds me of that film The Birds... Hugs Susan~
Nicely done. Gulls...always opportunists when it comes to having their picture taken. Did you get them to sign a waiver? These Mukilteo gulls are very proficient at forming gauntlets. I've/we've driven right through a flock in the parking lot and seen them shuffle just far enough to one side to avoid becoming pigeon liver pate:)
You wouldent get my wife anywhere near that lot.
