Sedona, Arizona.
Those funny formations are called hoodoos.
And do you see the helicopter? It's red, and it's between the hoodoos. You might have to zoom to get a good look. It really shows up on the original, non-compressed image!
I didn't see the helicopter when I shot the picture ... it was one of those little bonus items I discovered when I got home. :)

Another spectacular shot, Tara! The chopper really shows the massive size of the formations! Actually it's a stealthy helicopter - it's the Girls keeping an eye on you. I think they're ready for another session at the Spa.... Not sure the Spa is ready, though... :-D

I think the name comes from the first European explorer to see these. He turned to his Native American guide and asked, "Who do dat?" A spectacular image. Very impressive landscape. I see the helicopter. At first I thought you had captured a stray ladybug.

Ooooh! This is gorgeous! This is so...well...for a geologist, this is porn; I knew a geologist, once. What he could tell you about a rock was pretty scary: he could, literally, read the earth (and quote it.) This shot made me think of him. I love geology, but taking a semester of it doesn't count as "studying" it...does it? At any rate, I know enough to get myself into trouble. The colors in this really pop and are quite alive. The whole shot is engaging and quite a lot of fun. I noticed the helicopter, immediately...a little, red, mechanical gnat! Stunning. This is a gorgeous photo!
A stunning vista and great shot! Q. How do you hide a bright red helicopter? A. Put it in front of green foliage! Oh! and make it very very small!
