Description
Captured 10/29/12, at the site of a senior citizen apartment complex within a half mile of my reactionary residence.
Another imposing sight to go along with the many others that I've come upon during my very early morning walks.
Advanced Crane is right with that long arm soaring high into the stratosphere. And, considering the age of the tenants, there has to be elevators in that structure. And perhaps oxygen masks because of the thinning air near the top.
I tilted the camera in order to depict the closest and fullest extent of the crane.
See ya, and have a nice day.

Very cool perspective of this extension crane against the massive apartment building . Definitely a must Zoom to feel the depth of this capture.
Very cool indeed, Harry; I always think it would be useful to own something like this! That is a VERY tall one. And I hope that guy on the roof isn't about to jump. Maybe the elevators are broken and the crane is the only way down? You're right, you do find some very interesting sights on your morning perambulations. Another winner here!
I heard on the radio the other day that you should not live higher than the seventh floor, because firetruck ladders cannot reach any higher. They take more chances but have the best views. Neat shot.
Great work on this really cool capture Harry
Amazing! I should hate to live in a high apartment.
Great POV, fantastic colors and clarity. A superb shot.
Excellent capture!
Another great shot.. loved that you were able to get the full crane in the frame... hey that could have been your title.. :)
I like the take1 colours are beautiful and a reminder of how winter so often takes away thr colours
That is an impressive Crane Harry, Nice shot needing a slanted POV!!! Well spotted (though you couldn't miss it lol).. Rob
in one of your recent uploads, you wished us all well on the End of the World (12/21) which was very civilized of you, lol. Well this shot has a little end-of-the-world feeling, because of the topsy turvy angles. But your tilt is perfect, Harry: Unlike some tilted shots which create no more than an "artsy" effect, this one is wholly integral to the shot: You've created a total harmony between the crane and the building. The crane is leaning 'into' the building in this shot, and yet seems to be gracing it, as if it were a censor blessing it. You have the crane-top flush with the left-most top of the building, there's linear music here including the way the building angles away from the crane as we move back. The morass of machinery makes a nice frame for the right side; and then there's that light again: I don't know if this is early morning, but it's got that golden glow once more, visible in the upper levels of the building, and reflected so nicely by the striations in the stone/concrete. And the trees are so soft, like visions. A really musical capture, all set in motion by the tilt; and it feels as if the crane is doing a dance with the building, or wooing it somehow. Loved this shot when it went up, and wasn't going to end this morning without saying so. Very musical shot. And btw, one of the reasons they didn't build higher buildings as the high rise was developed was for the very reason morningglory states: How would they put out fires on higher floors? Esp in the early days of the skyscraper, when there just wasn't the proper equipment and often no elevators...
