Description
Today I attended the ceremony for my son's Graduation as a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Heritage Conservation.
These proceedings are nothing if not tedious, so I entertained myself till his special moment by a bit of long-distance candid snapping.
I am pleased with this..these poor devils have a whole week of it!
We are all proud of Mark: he was never academic at school and this is a great achievement for a Granddad!
My TZ18 on 16X zoom at a very high ISO.
Unfortunately i forgot to change the ISO afterwards for the portraits so they are grainy!!

This is a great shot considering your circumstances and may I offer my congratulations to him and yourself.
Congrats!! Don't you hate it when you forget to change the settings back... Been there done that.... :)
Oh bother, what a grim, dour crew we have sitting up on the platform, seemingly bored stiff with the whole routine. Anyway, heartfelt congratulations to your son on his belated graduation.
Wonderfully candid shot Andrea. Congrats to your son on his graduation.
Congrats to you and your son Andrea on this accomplishment! You so caught the alumni graduation ceremony emotion! I recall my Ph.d. assembly...it was barely open coffin - LOL!
Congratulations to your son, and that's a great shot but your subjects look a bit bored.
many congratulation.A splendid and colourful ensemble
A TERRIFIC GROUP PORTRAIT!
Excellent shot considering your lens troubles. Congratulations to your son on such a wonderful achievement.
Congratulations to Mark for his achievement and a wonderful photo.
Congratulations! A very fine capture and proud moment.
I do love all the fancy robes! That alone would have kept me happily interested. :)
Love it. Great work.
Nice work for you, and congratulations for your son, so he is now educating himself by degrees!
congratulations !!! great capture
An excellent shot considering the circumstances. They look absolutely thrilled to be there.
Still a good effort photographing this moment Andrea. God Bless.
Congratulations, nice pic.
Very cool capture of them all.
Something about the lighting here makes me think of Old Masters' paintings. Excellent candid shot, Andrea!
Congrats to mark. They all look very bored :o)
LOL their faces say it all!
Great candid shot..shows how difficult it is to maintain an expressiion of interest! has the look of a guild portrait. Congratulations for your son too
A big congratulations to your son, Andrea :-) They look so serious :-)
You and your Tizzy make a remarkable team:) I've attended enough graduations to know exactly how these people feel.
An interesting photo, Andrea. Congratulations for your son, you sure will be very proud. I love to read it that he has such a perseverance. But Mark is not on the photo, right?
One should be serious at least five minutes a day.... Congrats on your son's achievent (with hons!), Andrea!
I love this! The postwork and lighting really give it a painted look and add personality to each face. They do look bored, but are very interesting to study. There are slight variations that are fun to think about. The lady on the far left has decided what to do about her disobedient son, and judging from her slight, satisfied smile, he is not going to like it. The man sitting to her left is wondering why the professor currently speaking still has a job, and how much longer he is going to speak such twaddle. The person who can barely be seen behind him is not bored at all. While he pretends to be reading the pamphlet on the graduating seniors, he is really reading a Terry Pratchett paperback. His only problem is being sure not to chuckle too loudly. The lady seen over his right shoulder has pasted a slight smile on her face and left her body. She is currently astroplaning over the English Channel. The lady on her left is very definitely in her body and has just understood words spoken to her by a colleague. They were not complimentary. The man in the front is considering that a fancy blue robe, gold tassels, and an honorary seat in the front, are all very well but a back seat and a good book would be better. The man over his left shoulder has truly reached the highest stage of boredom. He has reached the "Dear God, just kill me now" stage. For his sake, I hope the graduation ceremonies are nearing an end. Congratulations to Mark!
What a brilliant insight by Lucinda! Thankyou so much, my friend!
