Description
This poem is a little more "traditional". I don't know how I feel about this one. It's not really my normal style of writing. I felt it was necessary to change styles to reflect what I was trying to say. I like the irony of this piece; a poem about the insignificance of words. This concept is why I love to write--constantly finding different and more effective ways of illustrating thoughts and emotions through the limitations of language. The picture is the Japanese kanji for love. I think that adds another not-so-subtle touch of irony to the work. It's 6am. This is the product of a caffiene-induced stupor.
Words
by Caleb Myers
To say how I feel is an impossible request
and all the same, of little import.
The words I choose are not the tools
by which I make known myself.
Rather, the puzzle.
A single sigh
bares more than any dialogue can reveal
A look, in the right moment
reads like a novel, to the right pair of eyes
Words stifle even the greatest of minds,
impede the most imperative of ideas with their
insignificance.
If you wish to know my thoughts,
understand my passion.
They speak louder than words they say,
plainer, says I, with all the fervor of the
greatest of tales

Language is the liquid that we're all dissolved in Great for solving problems, after it creates a problem ... Modest Mouse, "Blame it on the Tetons" Only words can describe words. When it all goes well, we soar! When it all turns to shit, the hole only gets deeper. Still, they're what we have. Actions and looks and touch go a long way, but when you need to be precise, words are all that's left. You've said it well! Nicely done, especially considering the caffiene-induced stupor! :)
Thanks for the comments! I love that you quoted Modest Mouse, one of my favorite bands.
