Description
So what has become of the two traitors that handed Prince Calvin over to the High Ogre? It appears they have gotten careless and stupid and all the other things you would like to associate with their type of low life scum! After collecting their bag of gold from the Ogre, they crossed over to a neighboring kingdom of King Bartram, Prince Calvin's father.
Not realizing that this kingdom was protected by King Bartram's soldiers, they stopped at the first tavern they found and proceeded to celebrate their recent good fortune. While on patrol, a troop of King Bartram's soldiers stopped at the inn as well. One of the soldiers recognized the two revelers. It wasn't long before the two traitors were riding back to King Bartram's castle in irons, but not before they had gotten a thorough beating and intensive interrogation.
They were brought before the King and sprawled out before him begging for mercy. One of the soldiers handed the King what was left of the bag of traitorous gold coins. The King threw it on the floor in a fit of rage and bellowed out, 'Silence these two vermin before I have to do it myself! Take them out and have them drawn and quartered!'
He wheeled about and was walking out of his reception chamber with the screaming traitors voices echoing throughout the hall. Just as he was about to exit the chamber, a thought entered his head. He came back to where the traitors were still on the floor and asked them, 'You wish to be spared? You claim you are sorry for your traitorous act and wish to be able to atone for your crimes?'
Both men shook their heads in afirmation as they squirmed on the floor before him.
'Then I will give you a choice. More than you gave my son I'm sure! I will be invading the High Ogre's domain soon to rescue my son. If you two walk at the head of my army and be among the first to engage the Ogre's army and sirvive, I will grant you pardons. If you don't wish to take that opportunity, my soldiers will be only too happy to take both of you out and excecute my previous orders!'
'We'll take it!' both men exclaimed at once!
'As for your traitorous gold, I think that it will make a nice little contribution to the widows and orphans fund don't you think?'
