Description
Larrabee State Park, South of Bellingham, Washington. It was a hot day, and the light was harsh the whole time we were out. Talk about challenging conditions for photography! All the views along Chuckanut Drive are to the West. Still, it was a great day. :)

I think the harsh light works to your advantage in this shot; I love how the water and the islands seem to fade away in the mist, yet still seem very real and "there", while the rocks have their own reality, with flawless shadows, texture and detail. Really a wonderful capture!

Excellent exposure under harsh conditions.
This worked very well. Wonderful shapes and shadows in the rocks and the contrast between light and dark draws the eye to the sea.

Well, the sun may have been harsh, but you still have plenty of detail in both highlights and shadows, Tara! Perfect exposure, and wonderful composition! A lovely shot!

I like bleak shooting conditions and this makes me think of a number of wonderfully bleak things I've attempted to see...the Midwest doesn't do bleak very well, unless it's urban bleak. I like geologically-bleak with harsh lighting conditions and this looks simply gorgeous! I love this shot and all that it implies. There's a story lurking in here somewhere. More to come.
