Description
Had an interesting lunch break recently when we spotted these flying machines being demonstrated to staff at Thames Water.
Each machine can be remote controlled or, as they are all equipped with GPS, can be programmed and left to fly themselves.
They were demonstrating three different sizes - the two smaller craft are pictured here in flight.
The smallest red one with four props is pictured flying in the top centre frame. The medium white one is in the top left and right frames and also the bottom centre frame.
Sadly, they could not get the large, eight armed machine with a Canon DSLR slung under it (bottom right photo) to respond, so I never got to see it in action.
All of them can be used as flying camera platforms and, thanks to their on-board computers and sensors, can fly autonomously over a preprogrammed route whilst compensating for varying wind speeds and other obstacles.
They are really quite cute and I want one - sadly, I cannot afford one. :-)

Cool collage and fantastic little machines, outstanding captures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. I am so glad to have your masterpiece here. I thank you for your masterpiece. 5+!
There are much cheaper flying machines. But they can´t compensate wind and don´t fly automatically. I have a remote controlled "Simulus Hubschrauber" with HD-Cam onboard (costs about 100 EURO). You can see some stills of my videos in my Renderosity Gallery. :-)
