Description
This is a photo, made in June in our garden.
(macro-shot)
I cut off the bottom half of the flower, to 'do justice' to the beetle.
Bee beetles are scarab beetles of the subfamily Trichiinae.
Dutch Penseelkever.
The flower : Lychnis coronaria Caryophyllaceae.
Common names are :Rose campion, Mullein pink, Dusty Miller.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
and thank you very much for your kind words on my earlier upload!
Please do zoom, to 'do justice' to the beetle too ;-)

Never seen the like. That is a great photo. Love the detail you brought out.
I've not seen a beetle like this before either. He is very interesting, and cute for being an insect. This would make an interesting story for children to write "How The Bee Beetle Got His Fuzzy Head".
Superb macro and details, Mies!!!

mooie foto !!! ( misschien jammer van die harde witte stippels die vooral te zien zijn in de zoom... ik zou die stippels weggekloond hebben)
Prachtige opname. kunnen die stippen niet van het stuifmeel zijn ?
Cees you're right, the white little dots in the picture is pollen. Cees je hebt gelijk, de witte stipjes op de foto is stuifmeel.
