Description
A nice day for a walk in the park.
Buckingham Fountain.
This fountain is considered Chicago's front door, since it resides in Grant Park, the city's front yard.
The fountain itself represents Lake Michigan, with each sea horse symbolizing the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana, that border the lake. The fountain was designed by beaux arts architect Edward H. Bennett. The statues were created by the French sculptor Marcel F. Loyau. The design of the fountain was inspired by the Bassin de Latome and modeled after Latona Fountain at Versailles.
Presented as a gift to the city in 1927.

Gateway to the windy city home of the Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks and lots of neat architecture.... Great shot Bill...
Beautiful city, and I love the fountain I have photographed it myself. Nice work.
Nice scene composition. Great details and info. Well done
A spectacular photo, Bil. So much is to admire on it. The foreground is so vivid, that while the high buildings are stately and static in the background. A magnificent combination.
